United Nations Staff Officer Course (UNSOC) Commences

United Nations Staff Officer Course (UNSOC) commenced from 31th July 2017 at the center with the participation of 20 officers from Nepalese Army and 7 International Officers from friendly foreign countries namely Cambodia, Mongolia, Philippines, Indonesia and United States of America. The course was formally inaugurated by the Deputy Commander ,No 26 Brigade, Col Rabindra KC. The course is aimed to prepare and train officers to serve in various staff appointments in Peacekeeping operations at Force and Sector HQ level. The course is designed to address challenges of today's Peacekeeping environment and to produce relevant, versatile and effective peacekeepers they can tackle any challenges that may arise in the volatile and complex environments that staff officers today work in.

The duration of the course is for 17 days and concludes on Aug 2017. This course which is being conducted at Birendra Peace Operations Training Center(BPOTC) is co sponsored by Global Peace Operation Initiative (GPOI) US Pacific Command.

"There is no question that as UN peacekeeping continues to evolve, so will the training needs of UN peacekeepers. Hence, peacekeeping training should have a systematic approach in order to develop training standards, policies, guidance and best practices for the trainers. Only the outcome of such training can help to meet the mission requirements."
