PROTECTION OF CIVILIANS TRAINING OF TRAINERS (POC TOT) COURSE COMMENCES

Protection of Civilians Training Of Trainers (POC TOT) Course commenced from 22th of May at the Centre with participation of 17 National and 2 foreign officers from Mongolia. The Course was formally inaugurated by the commandant of the Centre, Col Prayog JB Rana. The Course is aimed at developing efficient Instructor officers to work as Instructor of Pre-deployment Training for Peace Keepers to be deployed in Mission with POC Mandate in near future.

The duration of the course is of 5 days completing on the 26th May. The Course Curriculum includes the United Nations Protection of Civilian Mandate, different frameworks for Protection of Civilians and different contemporary cross-cutting issues. Besides, the course provides a comprehensive exercise in Protection of Civilian issues.

"There is no question that as UN peacekeeping continues to evolve, so will the training needs of UN peacekeepers. Hence, peacekeeping training should have a systematic approach in order to develop training standards, policies, guidance and best practices for the trainers. Only the outcome of such training can help to meet the mission requirements."
